A great cowboy story from B.M. Bower
“The sun, dropping a bit lower, robbed him inch by inch of the shade to which he clung foolishly.” - B. M. Bower, The Happy Family
First published in 1910, The Happy Family (a sequel to "Chip of the Flying U”), continues the various funny and catchy happenings of the well-known interesting characters – Andy Green, Weary, Irish, Pink, Happy Jack, Big Medicine, and the rest - as the action takes place in the badlands, on the edge of the Rockies.

This is sort of an old-fashioned book. It was delightful in its innocence and all the interesting stories about the cowboys. And although it concerns cowboys, it is more of a humerous book that can be read by anyone. Recommend it if you'd like some light and pleasant reading.Product details

The Happy Family Xist Classics edition by BM Bower Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Funny, Reads like Mark Twain and Patrick Mc Manus collaborated. Happy Jack is always mournful., Andy Green is an artist with words--and prevaricating. Period slang can be a bit confusing--but this is a fun read.
Around 1900 Bower started to write about the wild west - and she was one of a few women writers that 'wrote like a man' and fooled most of her readers at the time. But she knew what she was writing about, and grew up in the west, listened to all the tales, and wrote with a passion about the life, the men, the women, and the harsh conditions of the time. Not afraid to write about the violent times she is one of the best western writers ever, that this book is one of her finest sagas of the Happy Family, and Pink - while not a macho name, don't let that fool you - this is one harsh story!
Great read
The characters are fleshed out in ways Bower fans are accustomed to. The dialogue drives the story to a satisfying conclusion. A joy of a read!
